Although the relatively low number of cases on the African continent (especially in Nigeria) so far is great news, we should not be complacent in ensuring that this novel virus does not continue to spread. Policy makers must take decisive steps to protect her citizens and economy from further damage from the pandemic.

To achieve these goals, the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends a three-step approach:

1. Contain the spread of the virus;
2. Swiftly treat identified cases, and
3. Cushion the economy from the effects of the pandemic.

As an institution that is saddled with the responsibility of grooming young minds, we have also set measures to curb the spread of this virus by upgrading our facilities to the recommended specifications of WHO as stated below:

1. We have provided portable sinks at entrance and strategic points of our school for hand washing.
2. We now have a “No Mask, No Entry” policy enforced to comply with government recommended preventive measure.
3. We periodically clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
4. The recommended social distances has also been effected in our classrooms and assembly grounds.
5. Our sick bay has fully been equipped to attend to any emergencies, although parents are advised to keep their wards at home when they are sick.
